An embattled former Tulsa County appraiser is back in business. And he's overseeing the work of other appraisers.

Chad Stites was fired from his job as a Tulsa County Sheriff's appraiser. That came after he reportedly bought properties that he had appraised.

Now, the "Tulsa World" reports Stites has been hired by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development to check other appraisers' work. No charges have been filed against Stites.

But the FBI is investigating.
