(Pryor-AP) -- A man doing community service at the American Legion in Pryor has been charged with burglarizing the hall.
Pryor police say Jeffrey Dale Knott took almost $1,800 from five coin-operated gaming machines at the legion hall Monday.
Knott says he was simply doing what police have refused to do. Knott believes the gaming machines are illegal.
Pryor police responded to a silent alarm. They found Knott in the men's restroom standing on a toilet in a closed stall. He was holding a pair of needle-nose pliers and a police scanner.
Officials found the money in a green backpack near the scene.
Knott has been serving a five-year probated sentence for drug charges.
