(McAlester-AP) -- An inmate who escaped from the Jackie Brannon Correctional Center has been recaptured after two weeks of freedom.
Authorities say Johnny S. Brown was arrested on Friday by Newcastle police who were summoned to a woman's home after Brown knocked on the door.
Police say the woman didn't recognize Brown and refused to open the door. She called officers and shouted at Brown to get away from her house. He was arrested a short time later.
Prison officials say Brown escaped on December 19th while working in the prison laundry. Brown allegedly stole a pickup truck when he escaped from the McAlester prison.
Brown was serving concurrent six-year sentences from Canadian County for possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
