(Woodward-AP) -- Emergency management personnel in western Oklahoma already are preparing for the spring severe weather season.

The High Plains Technology Center in Woodward will host the Western Oklahoma Emergency Management Mini-Conference January 9th through the 10th.

The event is sponsored by the Woodward County Local Emergency Management Planning Committee and the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management.

Jake Castor is the Woodward County emergency management director. Castor says the mini-conference will allow area emergency managers to share ideas and learn more about their profession.

Speakers from the National Weather Service and the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality will be featured.
