(McAlester-AP) -- Pittsburg County authorities are trying to determine whether an escaped prison inmate stole guns and other items from a home near McAlester.

Undersheriff DG Stonecipher said Monday it's possible, but not certain, the burglary was committed by Johnny Brown. Brown escaped from the Jackie Brannon Correctional Center at McAlester early Friday.

Dean Boatner says he went home for lunch on Friday and found someone had forced open his back door. Boatner says a pistol and rifle were taken, along with men's clothing, food and some of his wife's jewelry.
