(Enid-AP) -- A Garfield County grandfather has been sentenced to 20 years of probation for using a cattle prod to discipline his 11-year-old grandson.
Johnny Stilwell could have been sentenced Wednesday to up to life in prison. He pleaded guilty last month to a felony count of child abuse.
As a condition of probation, the 67-year-old is prohibited from living in a residence where children are home-schooled.
Stilwell currently lives with his wife, daughter and granddaughter, who is home-schooled.
His grandson no longer lives with the family.
Stilwell was arrested in January after an investigation by the Department of Human Services and the Garfield County Sheriff's Department. His wife and daughter face similar child abuse charges.
The 11-year-old boy told a DHS case worker his relatives used cattle prods on him and his sister.
