Students at Tulsa's East Central High School got a taste of high profile forensics Monday. The school put up a mock crime scene for students to inspect during classes.

Students dusted for fingerprints, took pictures of the crime scene, and investigated for hidden evidence. Coordinators say popular shows like CBS's "CSI" have sparked an interest in forensics jobs.

East Central teacher Sarah Johnson: "They've really gotten excited about this and they've really enjoyed it. And they've really treated this like a grown-up project, because it is. And they've taken on a lot of responsibility and done the right things."

Johnson says the kids' excitement for this project has carried over to her classes as well. She says attendance is up and her students participate more in class.
