(Redmond, Washington-AP) -- Microsoft hopes to have your car tell you when it needs an oil change.
The software giant says its latest goal is to put a computer in every vehicle.
Cars with the Microsoft software would alert drivers when oil changes are needed and provide warnings about wrecks on the road, while scouting alternative routes. It'll also pay tolls automatically.
The Microsoft platform is currently in 23 car models, including the B-M-W Seven series.
Microsoft says drivers are being distracted by several gadgets, including hand-held viewers that offer traffic reports. The company's "T-Box" could be available in about a year to connect all the gadgets, making them hands-free.
