PAOLA, Kan. (AP) _ Authorities in Oklahoma arrested Monday morning a man suspected of shooting a southeast Kansas sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop.
Authorities from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Miami County were en route to Oklahoma to pick up Dallas Logan, said Miami County Undersheriff Mark Schmidt.
Schmidt said the Miami County Sheriff's deputy, who was not named, approached Logan's car at 12:05 a.m. on Sunday. The deputy, an eight year veteran, was shot in the upper thigh.
Logan then fled the scene and abandoned his car nearby, Schmidt said.
The deputy was expected to leave the intensive care unit on Monday, Schmidt said.
