The Tulsa School board will hold one more community meeting Thursday on possible changes in the admission policy for Booker T Washington High School.

Thursday morning students of the school got a chance to voice their opinions. News on 6 reporter Emory Bryan says as it stands now a racial quota is part of the equation for admission at Washington High.

The school superintendent believes the quota system would not withstand a legal challenge - and that it needs to be changed before it is challenged. Thursday morning the students at Washington held their own forum to talk about the issue.

The vast majority of them argued against any change to the admission policy. They believe the education they get at Washington could not be duplicated elsewhere.

As it stands, Washington has the most diverse student body and the highest academic performance of any Tulsa public high school.

They have the intention of voting on the possible changes sometime in December - so that next year’s students can be admitted under the new policy - whatever that may be.
