Arkansas Valley Petroleum wants to build a new corporate headquarters on eight acres at 91st and Union.

The Metropolitan Planning Commission has given approval but some area residents are not happy. People who live in the neighborhood are also worried about safety, property values and increased traffic in the area.

Neighborhood Association President Jim Reynolds says he plans to address the issue before the commission. "We have concerns about an industrial facility in a predominantly residential area. And a petroleum facility at that."

Company officials say they've never had any type of accident at its current location. The planning commission will look at a proposal by the company to expand the hours of operation at the new location.
