Consider yourself lucky if you've been approved for a storm shelter rebate. Only about 1,500 of the 12,000 Oklahomans who signed up for a FEMA-sponsored rebate will get money to build a storm shelter.
The program provides rebates of up to $2,000 to eligible Oklahomans who install above-ground safe rooms or underground storm shelters.
The money comes from a $3-million grant for people whose homes were hit by tornadoes between May 8th and May 16th.
