(Tulsa-AP) -- Tulsa hopes a win over Texas El-Paso will end another 17-game losing streak.
Last year, the Golden Hurricane stopped what was then the nation's longest string of consecutive losses with a 20-0 win over the Miners.
A victory Saturday over UTEP would give Tulsa its first road win since a 24-to-14 defeat of Hawaii on September 30th, 2000. Tulsa is 0-and-3 away from Skelly Stadium this year with losses at Boise State, Minnesota and Arkansas.
A victory would be another notch for coach Steve Kragthorpe in his rebuilding job. Already, the Golden Hurricane have quadrupled their win total from last season.
Beating UTEP would also make Tulsa one win away from qualifying for a bowl.
Tulsa is 4-and-4 overall, and 2-and-2 in the Western Athletic Conference. UTEP is 2-and-6, 1-and-2.
