OKC man accused of injuring child with machete

(Oklahoma City-AP) -- An Oklahoma City man is jailed after allegedly hitting a 16-month-old boy with a machete.

Police say the boy was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers say Phillip Ray Hayes was chasing his 23-year-old daughter, Felicia Hayes, when he swung and hit the boy near the left ear. The boy is the son of Felicia Hayes.

Phillip Hayes was arrested on complaints of child endangerment, assault with a deadly weapon and violating the domestic abuse act.
