Some Tulsa area residents may soon be getting the boot, the parking boot. In an effort to collect $800,000 in unpaid parking fines, the city will begin booting vehicles with multiple unpaid citations.
The boot, which attaches to the wheel, prevents the vehicle from being driven and will be removed when the fines are paid. There's a tow list on the city of Tulsa's web site. Tulsa Police Capt Richard Lawson, “People can check that to see if their vehicle is on the list which is for those declared a public nuisance by a judge because of outstanding parking citations."
More than 3,000 vehicles are currently on the list. Officers will start using the boot on October 20th, mainly in the downtown Tulsa area.
