A Good Samaritan who helped at the scene of a fatal accident is still touch and go after nearly 12 hours of surgery.
60-year-old William Craig Senior stopped to help after an SUV carrying 12-people crashed on US Highway 412 near Chouteau Tuesday morning. The driver says he fell asleep and lost control. Three people were thrown from the vehicle. Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say Craig pulled one victim from the highway, and was trying to move another when he was hit by a tractor-trailer.
The three passengers thrown from the vehicle all died. A number of others went to the hospital. The driver was also treated, and then arrested for trying to leave the scene of a fatal accident.
Craig's son told the News on 6 his father suffered broken bones and head injuries. William Craig is a deacon at the Friendship Church in Tulsa.
