Tulsans have a new place to trace their roots. The Tulsa City-County Library's new Genealogy Center opened Friday morning at 29th and Harvard.
The 5,500 square foot facility has a complete research collection and a whole staff devoted to helping folks research their family tree. There are quite a few records to sift through, including information on the five civilized tribes, the Oklahoma census, and Tulsa funeral home records.
The Harmon Foundation donated the building space for the center. That donation will save taxpayers about $130,000 in lease fees over the next five years.
