(Norman-AP) -- Paul Beesley is the most popular man in Little Axe.
Beesley won his first game as the high school's football coach last week. But it wasn't just a win -- it was a victory that ended Little Axe High School's 41-game losing streak.
Little Axe's 11-to-7 win over Lexington was the school's first victory since the final game of the 1998 season. No one on the team had ever won a varsity game while in high school.
Little Axe lost its season opener 37-to-nothing to McLoud. Last year, Lexington beat the Indians 12-to-6 in overtime. It was Little Axe's closest game of that season.
Last Friday's game was close, too. Little Axe rallied from a 7-to-0 halftime deficit to clinch the win.
