(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The developer of a popular wheat seed variety says the company is prepared to take Oklahoma farmers to court for reselling its seeds.

AgriPro Wheat of Colorado is warning farmers about the Plant Variety Protection Act of 1994.

The act gives developers of new plant varieties patent-like rights that protect the reproduction and distribution of seeds.

Farmers sometimes grow their crop and sell extra seeds to their neighbors.

AgriPro's Bill Kuntz says anyone caught illegally selling his company's products will be prosecuted.
