After nearly 40 years, Oral Roberts University is easing up on its strict dress code for students.

Since the university started, male students have been required to wear ties to classes. Female students were required to wear dresses or skirts, except during the winter months in recent years, when they could wear pants. Now the university says men don't have to wear ties, as long as they have a nice collared shirt. And women can now wear pants year round when going to classes.

Jeff Ogle, ORU VP student services, "We're not changing the dress code in terms of the principles, we're just changing the methods a little bit, upgrading the methods."

ORU student Tiffany Watkins, "We need to look professional. We do represent God as well as the university. But the drawback to it is there are times when you just don't feel like putting on a skirt you know."

School administrators say students will still be required to dress for success.
