An uncertain future for more than 300 employees of Fleming's distribution center in Tulsa. Workers have been told the center has been purchased by Associated Wholesale Grocers and will shut down this Friday.

An anonymous fax sent to the News on 6 came from inside the building. The fax says the distribution center will close. Fleming officials wouldn't comment and employees were told not to talk to us.

Trucker Steve Nelon says the closure is not a surprise and that rumors of financial troubles have been rampant. Nelon is one of 32 independent contractors who have been given the option of transferring to another location. But they still worry about their co-workers. "The economy in Tulsa is not the best that it's ever been, you know, so our concern lies with them. Come Monday morning I'm still working, I don't know about the rest of em."

Fleming purchased the distribution center from Albertsons last year. Two months later, the company announced it would close two other sites, one in Oklahoma City, and the other in Dallas.
