(Tulsa, Oklahoma-AP) -- About a thousand workers could be affected by Citgo Petroleum's deliberations over moving its headquarters from Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Houston.
Tulsa-based Citgo says it will reach a decision on whether to relocate by the end of the year. The company says it's considering the move as part of strategic changes at its parent firm, state-owned Petroleos de Venezuela SA.
Citgo is the nation's 4th largest gasoline retailer.
News of Citgo's possible move surfaced Tuesday when Tulsa Mayor Bill LaFortune said he will do all he can to keep the company in Tulsa.
Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry says he wants to talk to new Citgo chief executive Luis Marin. Marin took over August1st and has said no major changes were planned in Tulsa.
