(Lawton-AP) -- The Oklahoma Corporation Commission is delaying a decision on a power plant in Lawton.

The natural-gas fired plant is being built by Energetix.

The commission was to issue an interim order Monday establishing how much AEP-PSO would pay for electricity from the plant.

A commission spokesman says Commissioner Jeff Cloud asked for the delay to study of the impact on the state's economy and on PSO customers.

The utility says Energetix wants to charge about seven cents per kilowatt hour for electricity, nearly twice what the utility would pay on the open market.

PSO spokesman Jeff Rennie says that would cost ratepayers $285-million extra over the first five years of the contract. He says that would mean a little more than three-dollars a month for an average residential customer.
