(Oklahoma City-AP) -- An 11-year-old Norman girl was honored at the state Capitol Wednesday.
Kayla Thomas was given the Heroic Oklahoman Award by Governor Brad Henry for saving the life of her 18-month-old cousin.
Kayla is a Girl Scout and pulled Dylan Sewell out of her grandmother's swimming pool after he fell in on March 30th. She turned the boy on his side, asked a family member to get help, then began pressing the boy's stomach until he coughed up water.
Kayla says she first thought she was in ``big trouble'' because she believed it was her responsibility to watch her cousin.
Instead she becomes the 7th person to receive the Heroic Oklahoman Award.
