It's out with the old and in with the new in west Tulsa. Wednesday, demolition began on the old Robertson Elementary School at 2720 West 48th Street.
A new school was built immediately south of the old school building. The old school is being torn down because the building is beyond renovation due to structural problems.
Darla Hall, grandmother, “I hate to see it go down. I know it needed too. It was in bad shape, alot of tradition, alot of history in that school."
Eddie Creekpaum, former student and Principal, “The new building will last as long or longer as the old building. May not be here to see it, but it's still a beautiful structure Tulsa schools is proud to possess."
The new Robertson Elementary School, which opened this past spring, was made possible through a 1999 bond election.
