Tulsa's economy may be in a slump, but at least one company is in a business boom.

News on 6 Anchor Scott Thompson visited one of the fastest growing small businesses in the country, Educational Development, located at 10302 East 55th Place.

The company landed at 48th on Fortune's fastest growing small business list. It wasn't the first time and company leaders here say it won't be the last. That's because even in a slow economy this children's book distributor rakes in $30-million a year.

And when most companies saw their stocks slide, Educational Development's stock doubled.

Company leaders say it's their product that has the business booming. They ship thousands of books a day, and keep an inventory of more than six million in Tulsa. The books are made in England and combine colorful pictures with tons of information. Randall White, CEO of Educational Development, "We think that on the market today our books are if not the best some of the best that are produced the color and illustration are absolutely fabulous and it draws the children into the book."

Even though it’s a multi-million dollar company, Educational Development is still a family business, with even his 90-year-old mother working there.
