(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Garfield County Special District Judge Gary Maxey was appointed Thursday by Governor Brad Henry as associate district judge in Craig County.

Maxey was selected from a list of three candidates submitted by the Oklahoma Judicial Nominating Commission. He replaces Bud Wyatt, who resigned when he was named adjutant general of the Oklahoma Air and Army National Guard.

Maxey is also a former state legislator and assistant district attorney in Garfield County.
