OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Gov. Brad Henry has scheduled special elections to fill the District 17 House post left vacant after Democrat Richard C. Lerblance was elected to the Senate.
The three-day filing period will be July 7-9, with the special primary election held on Aug. 12 and the general election on Sept. 9.
Lerblance, a Hartshorne attorney, was elected to the Senate post left vacant by the resignation of longtime Sen. Gene Stipe, D-McAlester.
Lerblance served one year in the House. He was sworn in as a senator on Monday.
Last week, he defeated Republican Jess Davis for the District 7 Senate seat.
