(Houston-AP) -- The number of rigs actively exploring for oil and natural gas in the United States declined by five this week.

Houston-based Baker Hughes says the number in Oklahoma also decreased by five.

In the other major oil- and gas-producing states Wyoming increased this week by nine rigs and California by four. Louisiana was down nine and Texas by five. Alaska and New Mexico were unchanged.
