San Antonio's 101-89 victory over New Jersey in Game 1 extended the Western Conference's NBA Finals winning streak to nine, dating to the first game in 2001.
San Antonio is 7-3 at home during the playoffs following its 101-89 victory over New Jersey in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night. The Spurs, 3-0 at home in championship series play, went 7-1 at home when it won the NBA title in 1999.
Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant has a tear in the tissue around his right shoulder socket that might require surgery. The labrum tear was discovered during an MRI exam Wednesday at Kerlan Jobe Medical Center, the Lakers said Thursday.
"I was brought in to help the organization win a championship. We're playing for a championship, but I'm sitting on the bench. You should go find that man (coach Byron Scott) and ask him."
