One student is dead, and 21 injured in a school bus accident. It happened on Highway 16 south of Siloam Springs.

Authorities say 43 students were on the bus when it ran off the highway and rolled on to its side. A 14-year-old girl was killed. The bus was on its afternoon route when the 73-year-old driver apparently got distracted.

Arkansas State Police trooper Donnie Belew, "he attempted to view that portion of the bus from the driver's seat and as he did, as he turned around, he lost control of the vehicle."

Two of those who were injured are critical condition. Several others including the bus driver were treated and released.
