TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) _ New Alabama coach Mike Shula named former Tulsa coach Dave Rader offensive coordinator and quarterback coach on Tuesday.
Rader, 46, will assume his duties immediately.
He was the Crimson Tide's receivers coach from 1983-85 while Shula was an Alabama quarterback.
``I have worked with Dave and followed his coaching career,'' Shula said. ``He is an excellent coach and will bring a wealth of coaching experience to this position. I'm excited to have Dave as part of our staff.''
Rader was Tulsa's head coach from 1988-99, going 49-80-1 but leading his alma mater to bowl games in 1989 and 1991.
Rader replaces Eric Price, who along with his brother, Aaron, was reassigned within the athletic department after Shula's hiring. Both were hired by their father, Mike Price, who was fired as head coach for his off-the-field conduct.
