Governor Brad Henry is apologizing to anyone he offended when he called for more lawyers in the Oklahoma Legislature.

In a recent speech, Henry said lawmakers with backgrounds in farming; insurance and education have a tough time dealing with complex legal issues. He says just 25 lawyers out of the state's 149 legislators is too small a number.

Republican leaders demanded the apology. They say Henry's speech was an insult to lawmakers who aren't lawyers.
