(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Republican Senator Don Nickles was criticized by a Democratic Party official for supporting the economic policies of President Bush.

State Democratic Chairman Jay Parmley says Oklahoma has lost 28,000 jobs since Bush became president.

Parmley says officials have tried the Nickles-Bush approach of more tax breaks, larger deficits and exploding debt, but it's not working.

Nickles is chairman of the Senate Budget Committee and is a prime mover in the Senate in support of Bush's tax program, which Democrats have blasted as weighted in favor of the wealthy.
