(Benton, Arkansas-AP) -- A manhunt continues today for a Texas man now suspected of shooting an Arkansas resident.

Twenty-one-year-old Derek Hoffpauir (Hoff-POW-er) of Orange County is also a suspect in the disappearance of a Vidor woman.

Authorities are canvassing the area in Saline (Suh-leen) County, Arkansas, where a 54-year-old man was shot in his home today.

Yesterday, Hoffpauir reportedly fled from an accident scene on Interstate 30.

A state trooper saw Hoffpauir (Hoff-POW-er) flee into nearby woods. He abandoned a car registered to 21-year-old Christy Marie Goodman of Vidor. She's been missing since Thursday night. The National Crime Information Center says Goodman is possibly endangered.

Then today, 54-year-old Darrell Ford was shot once in the chest after he returned home from a shopping trip and found signs of a break-in.

His condition was unknown.

Police say an intruder who matches the Hoffpauir’s description shot Ford inside the home.

He is described as wearing a blue shirt and khaki shorts, stands about 5-foot-3 inches tall and weighs about 185 pounds. He has short, dark hair.
