(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A student from Broken Arrow and one from Battiest are winners of the National Merit Scholarship.

Brian Kannard of Broken Arrow and Chesney Grantz of Battiest will be announced as winners Tuesday.

Kannard and Grantz are among 35 graduating seniors in Oklahoma to win the $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Grantz is the first Battiest student to win the scholarship. She plans to study biology and film studies at the University of Tulsa next year.

Kannard is ranked 22nd in a class of more than 1,000. He'll attend the University of Southern California where he plans to study biomedical engineering.
