Several Oklahoma politicians’ hope they can come up with an incentive package to make sure American Airlines keeps its maintenance base in Tulsa.
First District Congressman John Sullivan says the combination of federal tax relief, which is already on the way along with local assistance could make a difference, even if the airline goes bankrupt. "We have a good infrastructure, we want to build on that and add to it with local and federal incentives state and local, tax incentives, showing them we want them here."
Sullivan says a tax break on jet fuel is also on the way, which would save American Airlines more than a $100-million a year.
