A lawsuit filed by survivors and descendants of victims of the Tulsa race riot will tackle the issue of a statute of limitations.

Normally there's a two-year limitation for claims, but a federal judge could decide it doesn't apply in this case. The lawsuit filed in February asks for damages from the state of Oklahoma and the city of Tulsa.

It claims the riot was the result of actions by the state, the city and the Tulsa Police Department leading up to the riot and during the riot. Briefs on the claims are due in September.
