(Tulsa-AP) -- The number of airline passengers continues to decline at Tulsa International Airport and Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City.

The drop is largest in Tulsa, where the number of passengers in March is down by 12% from one year ago and by 26% from 2001.

The number of air passengers in Oklahoma City is down by 1% from last year and down by 12% from March 2001.

Tulsa International spokeswoman Mary Smith blames the economy for the decline. Smith says Tulsa's economy is in much worse shape than Oklahoma City's.

The number of air passengers in Tulsa was just below 112,000 in March, down from nearly 151,000 in March 2001.

There were more than 135,000 air passengers at Will Rogers in March, compared to nearly 154,000 two years ago.
