(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Teachers who will lose their jobs because of the state budget crisis could get the bad news this week.

Thursday is the deadline for school districts to tell teachers who won't have jobs in the fall. Some teachers are expected to find out as soon as Tuesday.

Layoffs are expected despite a plan announced last week by Governor Henry and the Legislature that will increase public school funding for next year.

In Putnam City, 52 teachers on temporary contracts won't be rehired.

In Tulsa, principals hand-delivered letters to 274 first-year teachers saying they may not be rehired.

In Woodward, the district has notified 11 teachers their contracts will not be renewed.

Chandler will eliminate 30 of its 80 teaching positions for the fall, while Choctaw schools won't fill 17 open positions.
