(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Two anti-smoking bills passed the state Senate Monday, less than a week after one of the bills was defeated.
Senators reconsidered and passed a bill by Senator Ben Robinson that prohibits smoking in most public places on a 32-to-15 vote. The Senate then passed a similar bill sponsored by Senate President Pro Tem Cal Hobson by a vote of 30-to-15.
Smoking would be allowed in taverns, smoking clubs, bowling alleys and small family businesses.
A proposed amendment by Senator Mark Snyder of Edmond to prohibit the sale of tobacco products failed on a voice vote.
Both bills now go to the House, where a bill to ban smoking in restaurants failed last year.
