WASHINGTON (AP)_ Jaromir Jagr broke out of a slump with two goals and an assist and Ivan Ciernik scored with 2:57 remaining in regulation to lift the Washington Capitals into a 4-4 tie with the Atlanta Thrashers on Thursday.

Washington, which led 3-1 in the second period, extended its Southeast Division lead to three points over Tampa Bay. The Capitals recorded at least one point in six consecutive straight games.

Dany Heatley scored twice for the Thrashers, who also got two assists from Dan Snyder.

Blue Jackets 5, Canucks 4, OT

In Columbus, Ohio, Rookie Rick Nash scored his first overtime goal as Columbus handed Vancouver its first overtime loss.

Vancouver, which had leads of 2-0 and 3-2, was 5-0-10 in overtime before Nash scored with 2:02 into the extra period.

Ray Whitney had two goals and an assist for Columbus, giving him goals in the last four games and seven goals and an assist over that span.

Todd Bertuzzi and Markus Naslund each had a goal and an assist, while Sami Salo had two assists for the Canucks.

Hurricanes 4, Penguins 0

In Pittsburgh, Jeff O'Neill scored Carolina's first two goals as Carolina ended a two-month road winless streak by beating reeling Pittsburgh.

The Hurricanes came into the game with an NHL-low 51 points.

The Penguins lost their seventh straight, and fourth successive home game.

Carolina was 0-11-2-2 on the road since Jan. 4 and had lost five in a row overall. The Hurricanes had won only three times since Dec. 22 and had scored only five goals in five games.

Kevyn Adams and Bruno St. Jacques also scored for Carolina, which got 21 saves from Kevin Weekes in his 21st career shutout.

Sabres 4, Maple Leafs 2

In Buffalo, New York, Curtis Brown had two goals, and Miroslav Satan extended his points-scoring streak to seven games as Buffalo beat Toronto.

Taylor Pyatt had the other goal for Buffalo, which handed Toronto it's third straight loss. Shayne Corson and Robert Svehla scored for the Maple Leafs.

Satan also had an assist, giving him 10 points in his streak. Brown has four goals in his last five games and 15 overall.

Owen Nolan didn't play for Toronto, one day after being acquired in a trade from San Jose.

Bruins 4, Islanders 1

In Boston, Marty McInnis scored three goals and Steve Shields stopped 21 shots as Boston beat the New York Islanders to post consecutive wins for the first time since late January.

The Bruins moved into a tie with the Islanders for the Eastern Conference's seventh playoff spot.

McInnis, who started his career with the Islanders in 1992, completed his third career hat trick with an empty-net goal.

Dave Scatchard scored the Islanders' goal, his career-best 22nd of the season. New York is just 1-3-2 in its last six games.

Boston grabbed a two-goal edge just 6 1/2 minutes in winning at home for the first time since Feb. 6.

Blues 6, Coyotes 3

In St. Louis, Scott Mellanby, who didn't have a hat trick in his first 1,208 NHL games, scored four goals _ all on the power play _ as St. Louis beat Phoenix to wrap up a perfect four-game homestand.

Cory Stillman had a goal and two assists for the Blues, who outscored opponents 13-5 during the homestand. St. Louis won without Keith Tkachuk, serving the final game of a four-game suspension for cross-checking Minnesota's Wes Walz.

Pavol Demitra had three assists, and Al MacInnis had two for the Blues, who trail the first-place Red Wings by two points in the Central Division. The Coyotes are in ninth place in the Western Conference, four points out of a playoff spot, and are 7-3-1 in their last 11 games.

Mellanby scored on each of his four shots.

Wild 2, Predators 2

In Nashville, Tennessee, Pascal Dupuis scored a power-play goal in the second period, and Manny Fernandez stopped 29 shots as Minnesota snapped Nashville's seven-game home winning streak.

Fernandez allowed two goals on Nashville's first nine shots, but stopped the final 22 shots he faced.

The Predators took a 2-0 lead on goals by Denis Pederson and Scott Walker in the game's first 8:25.

Sergei Zholtok and Dupuis scored in the second period, when Minnesota held a 20-7 shots advantage.

Sharks 4, Canadiens 3, OT

In San Jose, California, Marco Sturm scored two goals, including his career-high 22nd at 3:58 of overtime, as San Jose defeated Montreal in its first game without longtime captain and scoring leader Owen Nolan.

The Sharks rallied from a 2-1 deficit with two goals in the third period before Montreal's Francis Bouillon forced overtime by scoring his first goal of the season with 1:35 remaining.

Montreal is winless in eight games and has lost four straight on the road. The Canadiens haven't won since Feb. 15.

Adam Graves and Patrick Marleau also scored for the Sharks.

Chad Kilger and Donald Audette had the other Montreal goals.

Oilers 2, Kings 1

In Los Angeles, Anson Carter scored the go-ahead goal with 5:59 remaining and rookie Ales Hemsky also scored as Edmonton crippled Los Angeles' playoff chances.

Edmonton has won consecutive games for the first time since Jan. 16, following a nine-game winless streak (0-7-2). The Oilers had lost seven straight games on the road.

Tommy Salo made 21 saves and has won back-to-back starts for only the second time since Dec. 13.

Los Angeles' Lubomir Visnovsky scored the tying goal in the second period.
