A 16-year old Muskogee County boy, who walked into his school and opened fire three years ago, may soon be released from custody.
In 1999, Seth Trickey pulled out a gun and shot five students at Fort Gibson Middle School. Trickey has asked to be moved from Rader Juvenile Detention Facility to a residential treatment center in Texas.
Steven Novack, Trickey's Attorney: "The program in Texas is a treatment oriented program and Rader is a juvenile corrections facility the emphasis is on corrections rather than treatment. " Sejin Brooks, Muskogee District Attorney: "In order for him to go out of state when we lose custody of him he's actually on parole and placed back in the custody of his parents and that is a concern as far as what may happen should he decide not to stay."
A judge has agreed to consider allowing the move if Trickey meets several conditions. He'll have to return to court for review hearings and give 60 days notice if he plans to be discharged from the Texas facility.
