Jenks School officials give themselves an "A-minus", after responding to an armed student who held police at bay for two hours Wednesday.

Jenks Public Schools were on high alert Thursday, after a 17-year-old student used a maintenance ladder to climb to the top of the high school gymnasium.

A worker reported the boy to staff members. That's when school officials put their emergency response plan into motion. School Police, city police and Tulsa's special operations team secured the campus and an assistant principal went to the roof to talk the student down.

Jenks officials say the plan worked, but there may be room for improvement. Jenks Superintendent Dr Kirby Lehman, â€œIn general I believe we will change some things, but if you're asking if there was a glaring error that we would share with other school districts and the media, we haven't identified that yet."

The gunman was taken into custody. He's undergoing psychiatric evaluation.
