The Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless kicked off its 2003 fund drive Tuesday. Community leaders and volunteers gathered for a luncheon at the First Presbyterian Church.
The organization hopes to raise $675,000 this year to help cover the costs of caring for the community's homeless. Sandra Holden, Executive Director of the Tulsa Day Center For The Homeless, "We depend on folks to contribute. If it weren't for the day center, the homeless people in this community would be out on the street. So we provide a valuable service - not just to the folks who use our facility - but to the community at large."
The Day Center is Tulsa's only daytime facility for the homeless. It provides 500 people a day with shelter, health, clothing and counseling services.
