(TAHLEQUAH, OK) - Spring 2003 semester figures continue the trend of record-breaking enrollment at Northeastern State University. Consistently besting its total enrollment numbers each year over the last three-year period, Northeastern again reports historic increases.

Credit hours continue to soar at Northeastern State University. Spring 2003 semester figures show Northeastern students have raised the bar another 5.76 percent in the number of credit hours taken from just a year ago. To date, NSU students have amassed 100,371credit hours for Spring 2003, setting a record for the highest Spring semester report in the university's history.

In addition, the total number of students attending Northeastern continues to grow during what is typically a lower enrollment period for universities. For the Spring 2003 semester, NSU is serving over 8,420 students, indicating one of the largest Spring enrollments in University history.

Northeastern's newest campus in Broken Arrow enjoys the largest increase, reporting a 7.94 percent jump in enrollment and its highest enrollment figure to date. The campus, which opened its doors in August of 2002, now serves 2,166 graduate and undergraduate students. Northeastern's main campus reports a 2.61 percent increase in enrollment with 6,697 students choosing to further their studies in Tahlequah. NSU-Muskogee has also increased enrollment by 2.36 percent and maintains steady growth in its upper division and graduate programs.

"These increases are further evidence that more students recognize the benefits of a Northeastern education," said NSU President Dr. Larry Williams. "With three campuses providing traditional and non-traditional students the freedom to accomplish their educational goals, Northeastern has readily identified itself as a highly competitive and affordable option for those seeking higher education opportunities."

Northeastern began the academic year with record-breaking enrollment figures in Fall 2002. Overall enrollment for the popular Oklahoma university exceeded 9,000 for the first time since 1995. Several other record-breaking notables included a 10 percent increase in overall freshmen with 1,250 first-time students; a 100 percent increase in enrollment at the NSU-Broken Arrow campus with 2,142 students; the largest number of resident students; and the highest credit hour production figures in Northeastern's history with 108,265.
