One person is dead following a single vehicle accident in south Tulsa. Police say the driver of a pick-up was going about 100-miles per hour.
When officers caught up to him, his truck was wrapped around a tree at 5800 South Harvard, and engulfed in flames. The driver died in his vehicle. The fire was so intense; it took firefighters a while to put out the flames.
But that wasn't their only problem though. Tulsa Fire Captain Mitch Parnell, “the pick up when it left the road took out a power pole. We got 600 feet of unsupported wire right now and we have wires around the tree right above the pickup that are on fire.â€
Firefighters had to wait for PSO to shut off power to the lines so they could put out the tree fire, and move the truck.
The victim’s name hasn't been released.
