Mistreatment of horses investigated by Muskogee Police

(Muskogee-AP) -- Muskogee police are investigating a horse found dead and five others malnourished and without water. <br><br>Police say they found the horses inside a pen with only field grass for food.

(Muskogee-AP) -- Muskogee police are investigating a horse found dead and five others malnourished and without water.

Police say they found the horses inside a pen with only field grass for food. A dead horse was found outside the pen about 40 or 50 yards away.

The horses were impounded by Animal Control and taken to a local veterinarian.

Muskogee police say they expect to neglect and animal cruelty charges to be filed.

The property owner says he doesn't know who owns the horses.
