Sand Springs students got a language lesson like no other. Samuel Tso was one of 26 Navajo code talkers that sent coded messages during World War II.
The code talkers sent and received messages in Navajo, messages the Japanese couldn't understand. "Bomb, we used to call it egg. And then dive bomber, hummingbird." Navajo was so difficult for the enemy to decipher because the language is only spoken, not written.
Tso hopes his story will help students better understand the history of World War II.
