OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ With the deadline to apply for assistance a week away, federal and state officials said Saturday nearly $5 million in disaster assistance related to the Jan. 30 ice storm has been dispersed in Oklahoma.
Officials said the deadline for those in the 45 disaster designated counties affected by the storm have until 6 p.m. on Monday, April 8 to apply for assistance.
The Oklahoma Department of Civil Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency urge any ice storm victims to call the toll-free application number for help.
The number is available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday until April 8.
As of March 28, $4.8 million had been issued to 6,073 applicants, officials said.
More than $2.6 million of that amount was given out in the form of disaster housing grants, officials said.
